It’s no secret that I love packing up orders, there’s something quite therapeutic about hand writing a note, and carefully packing and posting a product to a new customer. It’s an important step as it’s the first time our customers get to interact with my business in a physical way, so I feel that it’s important that we put some effort into it.
In a bid to be more eco-friendly, I’m moving all of our packaging over to plastic free where possible. Some of our retail boxed items will still contain some plastics (such as windows in boxes) which we have no control over, but going forwards all of our small items will be shipped out in paper mailing bags, wrapped in lovely sustainably sourced tissue paper, and sealed with a sticky paper label. We’re also swapping out standard acrylic packing tape in favour for biodegradable kraft paper tape, and all of our boxes will be FSC certified sustainable.
To quote my eldest son’s hero, David Attenborough…
“While filming Blue Planet II the crews found plastic in every ocean. Even in the most remote locations.”Sir David Attenborough
“Once in the ocean, plastic breaks down into tiny fragments, micro plastics. Along with all industrial chemicals which have drained into the ocean these form a potentially toxic soup.
“Industrial pollution and the discarding of plastic waste must be tackled for the sake of all life in the ocean.”
“Surely we have a responsibility to care for our planet. The future of humanity and indeed all life on earth, now depends on us.”
